The International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) confirmed the new dates for the 2021 Women’s World Championship. The tournament was originally schedule for May 6-16 in the Canadian cities of Halifax and Truro, but on April 21 the IIHF announced that the event was cancelled due to restrictions imposed by the government of Nova Scotia. The new dates for the tournament are Aug. 20-31, with venues to be announced soon.
Now it seems likely that WHL final series between lady-dragons and Agidel – due to be played after the Worlds – will serve as a curtain-raiser for the new season, similar to the Super Cups seen in many European soccer leagues.
